Trading for new Growth

Date: Wednesday 30 June 10 - 02:00 pm to 03:15 pm

Type: Interactive sessions

Faced with the worst economic slump in 80 years, the WTO is constantly constraining protectionist pressures. Trade remains key in restoring sustained economic growth, but nationalist interests tempt leaders to erect trade barriers. What can Europe do to prevent spiralling trade wars? What is the role of the G20, and the increasingly powerful BRIC countries? How is the Doha development round developing? Pascal Lamy, the WTO-chief, will give us the latest on global trade. The debate will focus on how to protect the (business) world against future protectionism.
