During an interesting conversation with H.E. Gordon Sondland, the United-States’ Ambassador to the European Union, he elaborated upon the United-States’ perspectives on "The Future of Transatlantic Economic Relations" which took place on 7th May at the Egmont Palace.

The United States and the European Union enjoy the largest bilateral trade and investment relationship in the world. EU - US trade in goods, services and foreign direct investments are so intensive that the transatlantic relationship largely defines the shape of the global economy as a whole.

Whereas such relationship has been source of prosperity for both continents, the relationship is today strained by political tensions as H.E. Gordon Sondland emphasized during his speech: "EU-US relations are an old couple and old couples have to have difficult conversations at times - this is the time for such a conversation!"
