About

Now a prestigious 2-day event, attended by over 2,000 participants, the European Business Summit has moved from strength to strength since its creation 17 years ago.

WHO WE ARE

European Business Summit is a well-known organization which creates and supports networking and debating events in Brussels, including our biggest and most prestigious event - the annual European Business Summit. Our principal goal is to bring business and politics together and stimulate thinking on the most challenging European issues. Through its events and publications, EBS delivers an inspired and informed contribution to policy-making in Europe. EBS is supported by the FEB (Federation of Enterprises in Belgium) and BUSINESSEUROPE. The EBS is also proud to acknowledge the high patronage of His Majesty the King of the Belgians.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is twofold: we aim to bring politics and business together in order to provide them with an opportunity to debate and pursue their common goals, giving a voice to all sides of the debate. The other priority of EBS is to provide the European institutions with a platform where they can place their top priorities in the spotlight and advance the development of new pieces of legislation through discussion with a variety of actors and stakeholders.

THE EBS ANNUAL EVENT

The annual European Business Summit is one of the most far-reaching and influential debating and networking platforms in Europe, held annually at the Egmont Palace, Brussels. It attracts over 2,000 participants and 250 high-level speakers. EBS gives business representatives the opportunity to engage in a dialogue with key EU decision-makers and demonstrate that business can play a key part in developing solutions to the most pressing issues in Europe.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

Apart from the European Business Summit every year we organise a Back from Davos event following the annual World Economic Forum in Davos. Moreover, EBS supports topical and relevant 1-day summits that are held throughout the year, including Think Digital, Energy Policy Summit, European Defence Industry Summit and Bespoke events.

  • This year’s European Business Summit welcomes a session on ‘Choosing Catalonia for your R&D investments’ in partnership with Catalonia Trade & Investment. Catalonia Trade & Investment is a public agency, based in Barcelona, that works to attract foreign direct investments in Catalonia. The session will explore Catalonia as, according to the Financial Times, the most attractive region in terms of foreign investments for 2018 and 2019. To learn more join the session on May 7th.

  • This year at the European Business Summit JA Europe, in collaboration with Arconic Foundation, presents ‘Inventing the Future’. JA Europe, as the largest provider of education programs for entrepreneurship, work readiness and financial literacy in Europe, shares their vision on how to equip the youth of tomorrow for the future of work. Join students, policy-makers and business leaders alike to discuss the future of Europe at EBS on May 7.

  • Almost 3 years, Brexit remains a controversial subject throughout the EU institutions and in general in Europe. The future of economic relations between the UK and EU will largely depend on Brexit negotiations. However, no matter the result of the negotiations, the ramifications for businesses both in the UK and Europe will be enormous – no sector remains untouched.

Many companies have already decided to leave the country if a no-deal proposition happened such as: Dyson, Nissan, Airbus. Theses departures will affect the both economic health of the UK and of course the labour market.

To lessen the blow, it is essential for both parties to maintain strong trade-relations. As decision-day is fast approaching, it is becoming increasingly clear that the 29thof March 2019 will change the future of United Kingdom forever.

This year EBS will discuss the future of economic relations post-Brexit decision in the context of Tomorrow’s Europe. Join us at EBS on May 6 & 7 2019 to learn more.
